Plan to attend our October meeting

2007 LEADERSHIP TEAM NOMINATIONS & ELECTION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2007 is fast approaching, and as your chapter President for next year I want to reach out to all members regarding our upcoming officer nominations and the election process.
The elected positions to be filled on my team for 2007 are Treasurer, Secretary and President-Elect. The first two are one year terms for calendar 2007. The Vice-President or President Elect is a two year term serving under the President in 2007 and then becoming President in 2008.
If you want to serve and give something back to the group please give this some thought before our meeting on October 10th. The election will occur at the November meeting. Please come see me or get in touch to let me know of your interest.
I want to build a strong team along with the appointed positions for 2007 to continue moving our chapter forward so please give this your serious consideration. I look forward to speaking with you!
Best regards,
Dave Wagers NWCA President Elect
Coach Tools: Knowing & Caring
"Don't tell me how much you know, until you show me how much you care." This basic dictum of human communication, underscores the importance for coaches to "connect" and care from the outset with their clients. True transformation and change is risky business. At times, it can be downright scary and needs every bit of trust and caring from a coach partner to rearrange the significant pieces of one's life. Knowledge and knowing can point the way and light up the possibilities, but the courage to decide often requires the professional "nudge" of a coach who truly cares.
We spoke last month of searching for the "pain" in a client, which often drives change. But conversely, clients come to us highly motivated, not out of pain, but genuinely searching and dreaming for a "better place" in their lives or work world. Listen and catch that "wave of energy" that can help catapult a client past obstacles and objections that they may have been hiding behind for years. It's like shining a flashlight on a darkened trail, where the hikers gain a burst of new confidence on their journey. Skillful coaching makes difficult processes seem easier and progress more certain.
We'd like to thank the 27 coaches who attended the September 12 Pre-session on "Selling Coach Services" for their feedback, insights and creative "AHAHs". This enthusiasm sparks new ASPIRATIONS, which in turn bridge over to IMPLEMENTATION of new concrete selling actions. Remember: don't let your clients get trapped in that fateful GAP between dreams and action. That's the job of coaching: clarity and confidence. And by the way, that's also the purpose of NWCA Membership Connections and the monthly meetings.
Appreciative Inquiry - Collective design for what is desired
NWCA Program Co-Chair, Feroshia Knight, presents Appreciative Inquiry (AI) - a whole person design tool for creating positive change through strengths-based learning and modeling.
In this interactive presentation you will experience first-hand the positive effects of AI and leave with the ability to immediately employ this tool in your own practice. Founded by David Cooperrider, AI is based on the assumption that in every system, something works; change can be managed through the identification of what works and the investigation of how to do more of what works. AI is used throughout the world to create sustainable transformations in communities and organizations. The AI process utilizes the human capacity for imagination and innovation, harnessing creative power for devising common ground in a shared future.
Feroshia Knight, founder of Baraka Institute and Agent 47 Communications, is an internationally known coach, consultant, facilitator and trainer. Since 1989 she has helped individuals and businesses grow their human potential. She works with organizations to develop learning communities in which leaders and their teams can excel at effective communication, decision-making, conflict management, accountability and team effectiveness. http://www.barakainstitute.com
Robin Harpole, PhD, MCHt, MNLP
Learn how when you create powerful, compelling metaphors that compel behavior, obliterate "resistance" you can drive your message deep into the unconscious mind of your listeners with these tips: Boost the power and effectiveness of your messages.
